When we are younger, we ask for anything and everything. Never once do we stop and consider about the things we already have. Never do we once open our eyes and see how amazing our life is while others had it so much worse. Just a few weeks ago, My IPhone just broke and died on me. I was-sad to say-miserable that my phone wasn't working anymore. I'm not going to lie, I did tear up a little bit. Late that night, I was getting ready for bed and when I went downstairs to say night to my parents. I caught the news(al jeezera-It's a popular Arab news station) and i saw horrific images. Innocent lives dieing, children taking care of other children, electricity out. That's when it hit me, I shouldn't be upset because of a stupid phone or if I get something right away.
Every day I make sure I say my thanks to god for the life I have. Even if the day was the worst it can ever be, I still say thank you. Because God gave another day to live, another day to try harder and be a better person. I'm not going to say that I don't whine anymore, that I don't act spoiled. That would be a lie, but I do try to stop myself and think, I do myself and remember whats going on in Middle East where my family lives. No matter what's happening in your life, try to make the best of it. Try to wake up with a smile and make your day the best it can be.

Hey Nadi! I totally agree with your statement. Life is not based on material possessions. Life is about living for God and not for this world. Life, as you said, can be so much worse for anyone. I hope, that by the time I die, I can say that I was not a materialistic person.

Although most people make it that way, everyone should stop and take a few seconds to realize that we have more than we could ever ask for. There are so many people out there who have close to nothing, while we are here moping around all "sad" or "miserable" because a material thing of ours is not working.
